An update on the closure of my local nude beach - Tyagarah Clothing-Optional Beach
My local nude beach is closing on 30 August 2024, and here's how you can help me and my local naturist community to secure a clothing-optional beach in the Byron Shire moving forward...

Erections and social nudity… What’s the go?
‘I’m worried I might get an erection…’ As a naked yoga instructor and someone who speaks publicly about normalising non-sexual nudity and a nudist-friendly lifestyle…this is one of the most common concerns males express to me when it comes to considering social nudity. Generally speaking, erections is a topic that I feel is not touched on anywhere near enough…even within the nudist community. It is a topic that I feel deserves a whole lot more understanding and a lot less shame…especially when it comes to social nudity. A topic that I feel is just as important for us women to understand as it is for men. From the physiology of erections all the way through to erection etiquette, I am here today to open up the discussion and speak candidly on a topic that has been a long time coming and is in dire need of clarification and resolution.
How does non-sexual social nudity and attraction work?
Ever wonder about how nudists navigate attraction when being completely naked around one another? Do those lines seem a little blurry to you? Perhaps you’re interested in getting involved in more social nudity but you’re not sure what to do if you find yourself attracted to others? Is attraction considered inappropriate in the community? All these questions may have you feeling a little overwhelmed and outright confused and curious. Well today I am here to clear up some of that confusion and shed light on what can seem confusing as an outsider looking in.
3 insights into being more body positive.
My time as a nudist has led me to explore more than just the stunning nude beaches and nudist resorts of the world…
It has further inspired me to embark on a more purposeful journey of raising awareness about, and encouraging, body positivity. As a thirty year old, I have witnessed the rapid rise of social media and, with that, the pressures that a ‘filtered age’ have placed upon body image. An age where the beauty industry sells us our definition of ‘beautiful’ through the narrowed and distorted lens of the media, and where consumerism prevails and profit is the goal; it is a breeding ground for mass consumerism, greed, materialism, narcissism, divide and loathing.
Blurred guidelines: Instagram verifies pornographic accounts and shuts down body positive accounts.
With no response whatsoever, I am at a point where I feel it is time to expose (once again) these blatant double standards and share with you all the great lengths I have gone to in trying to warrant a response from the faceless people that continue to ignore such significant matters that are crucial to a progressive and unified society that bases itself upon equality, tolerance, diversity and empowerment.
My first WORLD NAKED BIKE RIDE experience.
World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR) – just what the title suggests… riding a bike naked! An event that takes place in over 70 cities and 20 countries all around the world! On Sunday 10 March 2019, I participated in my first ever WNBR right in my backyard in Byron Bay! And WOW…what an amazing experience! I’ve done a lot of nude activities…but this event has been an absolute highlight!
How naked yoga is paving the way for a new age of body-positive nudies.
For you and I, naked yoga probably doesn’t sound all too daunting…well, not the naked part anyway!
Inspiringly, there is a wave of women taking the bold and courageous leap to shed the layers and get nude in downward dog! And! Hats off to them…they’re not even nudists! Just your everyday mother, sister, daughter, teacher, nurse, business owner…you name it! Your average textile beach-goer and, more often than not, someone that has never been nude in front of strangers before. So, leading a revolutionary movement to bare it all in the name of normalising nudity, body-positivity and self-acceptance, these women are leading the charge to improve their body image by trying their hand at some naked yoga. By doing so, they’re also helping to slowly change the stigma attached to nudity and a nudist lifestyle.
My first time at a nude beach.
It was nearing the end of 2013 and a group of friends and I had hired out a house along the Great Ocean Road for New Years Eve. Whilst the party house boasted an awesome pool, not being big fans of tan lines at the time, my best friend and I were looking to get away and get topless.
Dining naked with strangers.
Sitting outside in the sunshine, listening to the birds sing, surrounded by trees, a pool and spa a stone’s throw away, all accompanied by great conversation; I was in my own little paradise. Perhaps fifteen minutes into my conversation with a married couple from Gladstone, I stopped to think about how odd this would seem to most other people…the fact that I was sitting there completely naked discussing politics and whatnot with a couple I had met only fifteen minutes prior.
